Course Overview

Stage 1: Sunday, July 25 (114km/3350m+ elevation gain)

The Grand Départ of the CAMPILARO Pyrénées 2027 will take place in Saint-Lary-Soulan. Our wish was to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Ski Resort with the Town Hall and the Tourist Office. A first stage that will set the pace for this 11th edition with 4 climbs listed and,
finally, the formidable Col de Portet (17km at 8.32% average).

You will leave Saint-Lary-Soulan heading towards Arreau to go for the first time trial of the stage. On the program : the Col d’Aspin (12km at 6.5%) , then the descent towards Payolle and Sainte-Marie de Campan to tackle the unprecedented Col de Sarrat de Gaye (6.6 km at 5.9%) and the superb Col de la Hourquette d’Ancizan (10.5 km at 6%). At the summit, after your feed zone and a winding descent towards Guchen, you will join Vielle Aure where the second time trial
will be positioned. A few days after the TOUR riders, it will be your turn to climb, in an ultimate effort,
the Col de Portet whose summit is located at 2215 meters above sea level !

Stage 2: Monday, July 26 (136km/2800D+)

For this second stage, we head to Spain. Our last foray into the Val d’Aran was back in 2018, and we are delighted to return.

But from Saint-Lary, it will be a long road : 136 km !

The stage will start fairly gently in the foothills of the Pyrenees over the Col de Mazouau (cat 4) and Saint-Bertrand de Comminges. Entering the Barousse Valley will bring the first climbs. The road will rise gently until Mauléon-Barousse, but once past this village, the Port de Balès and its severe slopes will await you (18.9 km at 6.27%). At the summit, after your resupply and a descent towards Bourg d’Oueil and then Luchon, you will reach Saint-Mamet at km 99.4.

This village at the foot of the Col du Portillon (7 km at 7%) marks the start of the second timed section, which will take you to Spain. From Bossost, you will then reach the small village of Es Bordès, which will mark the start of the final ascent towards Plan Batalher, 9 km at an average of 5%, without any major difficulties, but the hours in the saddle will have already taken their toll.

Stage 3: Tuesday, July 27 (45.5km/925D+)

At the dawn of this third day, with 250 km already in the legs and 6,300 m of elevation gain, fatigue will be setting in  but let’s hope that the Val d’Aran, this authentic and rebellious valley, will invigorate you for this 20.9 km individual time trial with an average gradient of 5% on a fairly rolling road
where you can alternate between the big and small chainrings.

The start will be from the town centre of Vielha : heading towards the villages of Arties and Salardou, then the Baqueira ski resort, before tackling the final ramps towards Pla de Beret on your left.

Up there, at 1,850 m, you will discover a very well-preserved natural environment : summer pastures for livestock, streams and wetlands. It will be a real feast for the eyes ! And, to make the most of this magical place, we will organise lunch at the Baqueira-Beret ski resort facilities.

Stage 4: Wednesday, July 28 (102.7km/2050D+)

The final stage is already here ! We will leave Vielha and the Val d’Aran with a long downhill section, untimed, to enjoy ourselves and share a great cycling moment ; On the road to the Val Louron resort, 2 timed sections will be offered.

The first will start in Cierp-Gaud at km 40. You will then begin the climb towards Luchon to tackle the Col de Peyresourde and its 14 km at an average of 6.7%. Two sections could prove tricky, below the villages of Saint-Aventin and Garin with gradients around 9%.  The second timed section will start at the bottom of the Peyresourde descent at the village of Avajan.

A short timed section, but you will have to get back into the rhythm to tackle the final climb of this 2027 Edition. From Génos, where the climb towards the Val Louron resort (8km at 8%) begins, the gradient is steep, with double-digit percentages... you will have to grit your teeth, but the
FINISHER medal is waiting for you !
